CookieCoach Final Sample Dialog
JON: I want to talk to CookieCoach.
CC: Hey there! It's CookieCoach, your personal cookie expert. What recipe can I help you with today?
JON: I’m feeling like chocolate chip.
CC: I have a recipe for the BEST chocolate chip cookies ever. It takes an hour and makes 24 cookies. Ready to get started?
JON: I like the sound of that. Let’s do it.
CC: Let’s start by checking the ingredients. There’s 10 total. Do you want me to read them off one at a time or send the list to your e-mail?
JON: Read them off.
CC: Great. After I tell you an ingredient, just say “next” to move on. The first thing we need is 1 cup of softened butter.
JON: Yeah. I remember. Next.
CC: Second, we need 1 cup of white sugar.
JON: Next ingredient.
CC: 1 cup of brown sugar.
JON: Actually, just send the list to my e-mail. I think I got them all.
CC: Great! Let me know when you’re ready to bake your first batch.
JON: Ready to bake.
CC: There’s 12 steps total. When you want to hear the next step, you can say “next.” Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
JON: Gotcha. What’s next?
CC: Step 2: Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a bowl with an electric whisk until it’s smooth.
JON: What’s "creaming" mean?
CC: It’s a nice little trick where you beat together butter and sugar until it’s soft, uniform, and fluffy.
JON: Oh crap. I don’t have any butter.
CC: Do you want me to suggest a substitution or do you want to run out and grab butter?
JON: Give me a substitution.
CC: You can substitute 1 cup of butter with 3/4ths cup of vegetable oil.
JON: Oh good. I actually have vegetable oil. Wait, how much sugar did I need again?
CC: 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of white sugar.
JON: Alright. It’s mixed. What’s next?
CC: Third, beat in the eggs, one at a time.
JON: I don’t remember how many eggs either…
CC: Two eggs.
JON: I beat them in.
CC: Next, stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla.
JON: Man, vanilla smells so good
CC: Yeah! I love the smell of vanilla!
[Andrew enters]
ANDREW: Hey Google, can you tell me how long it takes to walk from here to campus?
CC: Sorry, I don’t know how long it takes. But if you have any questions about cookies, I’m all ears!
JON (to Andrew): Dude, get out. I’m trying to do something here.
ANDREW: Ok, Ok.
[Andrew exits]
JON: What’s the next step?
CC: Dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda into 2 teaspoons of hot water, adding it to batter.
JON: What the heck is that supposed to look like after you mix it.
CC: The baking soda and water mixture looks a little like watered down milk.
JON: Ok. Next.
CC: Add ½ teaspoon of salt to the batter.
JON: Next step
CC: Stir in 3 cups of flour.
JON: Ok. And now?
CC: Add in 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
JON: I’m done
CC: Perfect! We just finished making the cookie dough. Now, drop large spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto ungreased pans. Make sure to give them some room to spread.
JON: Cool. Now what?
CC: Last but not least, bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until they’re golden brown. Do you want me to set a timer for 10 minutes?
JON: Set it.
CC: 10 minutes and counting. I’ll let you know when it’s done!
[10 minutes later]
[Device plays melody, indicating timer is done.]
CC: It’s time for the cookies to come out of the oven!
JON: Thanks…. Uh oh, these cookies are way undercooked.
CC: Try putting them back in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for a minute until the edges are golden brown. If there's anything else you don't love about the cookies, let me know.
[Two minutes pass]
JON: Ok. The cookies done now. They look great.
CC: Make sure you give 3-5 minutes to cool. I hope they taste amazing!
JON: Thanks for the help. Bye.
CC: Next time, if you're feeling nutty, I can talk you through a delicious peanut butter cookie recipe that I LOVE. Good night!
